With summer weather already here, Howard County families are undoubtedly ready to get out of the house and into the sunshine. Centennial Park

Centennial Park is a Howard County classic, with over 300 acres of land to explore and a man-made lake that is perfect for fishing. Kids will love the playgrounds and skate park. You can also enjoy miles of paved pathway for walking and biking. Boat rentals and concessions are available at Centennial Park. There are 4 entrances to Centennial Park in Ellicott City. 

Atholton Park

Atholton Park in Columbia is a great place to take the kids, especially if they attend nearby Atholton Elementary. You can find Atholton Park just behind the school with its playgrounds, tennis courts, and handball courts along with bird watching opportunities. There’s even a picnic area. 

Western Regional Park

Western Regional Park in Woodbine is filled with family fun, from ball fields to playgrounds and nature trails. There are also several tennis courts at Western Regional Park. Plus, families can enjoy the Glenwood Library and Gary J. Arthur Community Center. 

Cedar Villa Heights Park

Cedar Villa Heights Park is a small park with big amenities, including a couple of playgrounds and a basketball court. With 3 picnic tables, Cedar Villa Heights Park is a scenic spot for family picnics in Jessup. 

Patapsco Valley State Park

Patapsco Valley State Park is an extraordinary park in Howard County, with over a million visitors each year. There are nearly 200 miles of trails to enjoy in Patapsco Valley State Park and endless opportunities for outdoor recreation. Biking, canoeing, bird watching, hiking, horseback riding, and fishing are all popular park activities. If you’re feeling brave, teens will love tackling the park’s swinging bridge. 

North Laurel Park

North Laurel Park on Whiskey Bottom Road is home to North Laurel Community Center, but you’ll also enjoy the large skate park and playgrounds. Tennis courts, ball diamonds, basketball courts, and sports fields are all available at North Laurel Park.

Martin Road Park

Martin Road Park is a great, small park option in Columbia. Martin Road Park has a paved pathway that is perfect for roller skating or just taking a quick stroll. There is also a playground and basketball courts. 

Meadowbrook Park

Meadowbrook Park is a 77-acre park in Ellicott City that features a large playground and sporting amenities. The Meadowbrook Athletic Complex is located in Meadowbrook Park. Families can enjoy tennis and basketball courts, as well as picnic areas. There are also paved pathways for walking.
